This Sunday (April 8) Charles Coble will lead us in a discussion of science fiction as authentic fictional literature. Here are some things to think about in anticipation of the discussion:
- What does fiction do for us as a society and as individuals within that society? What does it contribute?
- What value might science fiction have in particular?
- What role might imagination play in our ability to plan for the future?
Next Sunday (April 15) Karin Mills will also address science fiction, so you can look forward to two weeks of pondering the role of imagination as we move forward into an uncertain future.
Karin Mills’ presentation on science fiction has been moved to April 29. I look forward to hearing her and having another opportunity to discuss the roles science fiction works play in our society.
